WGCC Welcomes New Local Grateful Dead Radio Show And Announces Changes To Its Monday Evening Lineup

WGCC is pleased to announce the addition of a new locally produced and hosted program coming to our Monday evening lineup. "New Grateful Boogie" will air every Monday night at 10 PM on 104.1 FM, and will also be available as a podcast at wgccradio.org.

The show, Geneva's ONLY locally produced radio program to emphasize the music of The Grateful Dead, is hosted by JJ Nicholson. Listeners may already know JJ from his existing Indie/Eclectic program Radioschool, which will continue to be heard Tuesday nights at 10. With New Grateful Boogie, JJ gifts us with his vast library of live Grateful Dead recordings from the 1970s onward, as well as his own personal musings about The Dead, their music, and his own experiences having attended two dozen live Dead concerts during his lifetime.

The show will also occasionally feature live tracks from other similarly minded Jam Bands with a similar vibe.

The new Monday evening lineup will also include a new syndicated program with a similar classic rock/psychedelic vibe. At 11 PM, we'll be adding The Flower Power Hour. This program comes to us from KABF community radio in Little Rock. Each week, hosts Ken and MJ share deep album rock and personal experiences from the 1960s and 70s. We felt this would be a welcome addition to the vibe we are aiming for on Monday nights starting with the Ultimate Mixtape Radio Hour at 9.

The Indie/Alternative and Deep Soul programming will continue, but shift to later time slots to accommodate these new shows. The new Monday night/early Tuesday morning lineup is now as follows:

9PM The Ultimate Mixtape Radio Hour
10PM New Grateful Boogie With JJ Nicholson
11PM Flower Power Hour
Midnight The Deuce Radio Show
1AM The Independent Music Show
2AM Upfront Soul

So please be sure to tune in and tell us what you think about the new Monday evening lineup. Your feedback is important to us, and is a driving force when it comes to programming decisions for the station.

Thanks for listening to and supporting WGCC; Geneva's first and only community radio station!

A Message From Jason Longwell To The Geneva, NY Community

After nearly ten years since our unsuccessful attempt to bring community radio to Geneva, New York and the surrounding Finger Lakes region, I am pleased to say that Geneva Community Radio is Back, and poised to be better than ever. On February 7th, 2024, Geneva Community Projects, an established non-profit 501(c)3 charitable organization, received a Construction Permit from the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to build a new low power FM (LPFM) radio station to serve Geneva at 104.1 FM with the call letters WGCC "We're Geneva's Community Connection".  We now have a second opportunity to bring a unique non-profit and non-commercial radio service to our community. A radio service that will enhance, enrich and strengthen our community, and one that will bring diverse elements of our community closer together. This new station will offer a diverse mix of music and spoken word programming, appealing to a wide range of tastes and interests within the Ge...
